Time for verse #2!

Can you believe it is already January 15?! It is time to post our second verses. Even if you didn't do it the first time, please jump on in!

Here is mine:
"He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the One who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him." John 7:18

I don't want to speak on my own! I want everything I do and everything I say to be for His honor!

What's your verse?

(33) But more than anything else, put God's work first and do what he wants. Then the other things will be yours as well. (34) Don't worry about tomorrow. It will take care of itself. You have enough to worry about today.

Matthew 6:33-34
(Contemporary English Version)

From Rob: (posted below and I didn't want you to miss it!)

Hey Everybody, keep at it! I learned my first verse within a day or so, but what a difference it made to come back to it several times a day (to make sure I wouldn't forget it before having to choose a new one :-). God's Word truly has power.

Anyway, sort of following the theme I began with my first verse; here's my second verse(s) for January:

"He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him." (John 12:25-26 NAS95)

By the way, here's a tip: do this with a friend. I meet with another guy on Friday mornings, and we have committed to learn each other's verse (as well as our own) every two weeks. So I also learned 2 Cor 9:8:

"And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed;"

During the past several months in Celebration during prayer time, there has always been several heavy hearted 1st or 2nd graders who come to us worrying about their parents need for employment or other adult needs. It burdens my heart when I hear of children of such a young age already worrying about how their parents' needs are going to me met. I do my best at home and out in the world not to have a worrisome heart. I earnestly try to live by faith.

So my current memory verse is Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

I try to live this verse so the people particularly the little children around me will see a life of faith not worry. With all the talk of presidential legacies, we have to stop and consider what legacies are we leaving??

This is great !! We have such a vibrant group of leaders for our kids. I am thankful to God for all he does through the whole team. This week again I will stick with Daniel, as I teach the bigger kiddos..
"Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever. For wisdome and power belong to Him. It is He who changes times and the epochs,He removes kings and establishes kings, He gives wisdome to wise men and knowledge to men of understanding." Daniel 2:20,21

Fits well with what Steve said about not portraying a spirit of worry to our kids. God ultimately is the author of His-story, He is not surprised by His own plot as it unfolds.

I know this is late but I've memorized it none the less. :)

John 16:33
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
